Do you have trouble making potato salad? If so, you may be sure there are simple steps to follow in making it for that hungry crowd. Many persons don’t have a family recipe, or they just make mutual faults along the way and get frustrated. It actually isn’t that hard to make potato salad. These tips must support get you well on your way to delighting everyone!

Determine introductory how a heap of people will be eating potato salad. Remember, most kids turn up their noses at the thought of anything mushy with potato lumps in it. But men ordinarily heap it on next to their other favorites, so they will eat the portions the kids chose to pass up. Also, potato salad is filling. Many serving sizes are littler than you think.

Take vantage of the “bags” of potatoes in the store where the potatoes are medium in size. Large potatoes take longer to cook, so they normally must be cut in half. The Idaho white potato provides a great flavor and cook well. Don’t make the fault of using red potatoes since they get too soft and turn mushy. Five potatoes will make salad for regarding 8 or 9 people. Then, just figure on half of a potato for each further and added person over 9.

Next, fetch a big pot of water to a boil. Tip…..Do NOT peel the potatoes. Just add them to the boiling water right out of the bag. Be sure to cut the big ones in half! Boil for regarding 20 minutes and when a knife sticks through them easily, they are done. Hold the warm potato underneath cool running water and the potato peeling just falls off! All the flavor of the potato will be in your potato salad.

While the potatoes cool, chop half of a huge white onion. In a big bowl, mix the onion, in regards to 1 cup of mayonnaise to commence with (I use Miracle Whip), 1/2 cup of sweet pickle relish, 1 tsp. salt, and a little pepper. Then chop the potatoes as little as you want and throw them on top of the mixture. Mix well and add more mayonnaise as necessitated to reach the consistency that you like. I normally add more than the 1 cup before it’s all done. You may also alternate with fat free merchandise like yogurt, fat free sour cream, or low-fat mayonnaise.

Another ingredient I like to add is chopped, hard-boiled eggs. I use 3 eggs in a batch of potato salad feeding 8 or 9 people. Add the eggs last so they don’t get too mushy. Stir it all together and cool before serving. Potato salad is even better if left in the refrigerator during one night before serving. If you are close on time, it’s even ok to throw the bowl in the freezer for in regards to 45 minutes to get it cold quick!

Potato salad is a “crowd pleaser”. After you make potato salad following these simple steps, you will be competent to adjust the recipe without apparent effort for your own taste. Using these easy tips, you won’t make mistakes, like peeling away all of the flavor, overcooking the potatoes, or adding ingredients you don’t need.

When I cook my potato salad, every one wants my recipe! This recipe isn’t even written down anywhere, until now. So, make this your recipe and enjoy!

5Good so far.
By E. Harris
It’s exactly as it looks. The plastic pincher that hold the drawstring closed seems a little cheap but it hasn’t given me any problems yet and I’ve been using them for about a month. It’s cute. It’s stylish. It does its job. Can’t ask for more. I’d recommend washing it before use.

I thought it’d been too big for the few potatoes we use but it held one standard size bag of potatoes entirely. I don’t think it could have held any more though.

But I don’t recommend using the Orka Hook that’s displayed with it. It’s useless and cheap.

5Perfect! Just what we’ve been looking for!
By DrusL8yK
I agree with previous reviewers that it doesn’t look to hold 8lbs…maybe if each individual potato was huge. We nailed it in the studs though, so it just may hold! Well we love it! Unlike the other reviewer, our potatoes have lasted waaay longer than 2 weeks! We actually had a potato that we forgot was in there from Thanksgiving for Christmas! No lie! No sprouting at all! We love our potato sack and it looks cool too!

4Using for onions
By J. Osborn
Because our family uses a lot of onions, we decided to get the potato sack for onions. So far we’re very pleased. This sack will hold about 5 pounds of onions, and it is keeping the onions better than our old storage (canister in the cupboard). The sack stretches slightly, so it conforms to the onion (or potato) shape, holding it gently, not forcing it against the other onions. I agree with the person who said the pressure clips (like on the bottom of a jacket) are a bit on the flimsy side, but not sure if anything sturdier would ever be required. We like this well enough that we’ll purchase another one for potatoes, if we ever decide we need one.
