Stainless steel cookware is a outstanding choice for safe cooking. Many kinds of cookware react with the foods, either altering the taste of the feed or even freeing destructive materials into the feed that may cause imbalances or diseases. Many non-stick coatings like teflon are safe – but once they get scratched or overheated they may get started to leak chemicals in the feed that are according to a good deal of scientific studies dangerous and perhaps carcinogenic.
Stainless steel cookware is very safe. Stainless steel is a mix of dissimilar metals: iron, chromium and nickel. Iron, as you are in all probability conscious of is not a dangerous metal for the humane body – one of the healthful distinct elements of spinach for example is that it has a lot of iron.
Chromium likewise is healthful for humans – amidst 50 to 200 (microgram) mg per day are recommended. Studies have shown that when you cook one meal in a stainless steel pan or pot it releases when it comes to 45 mg of chromium into the feed – so that’s even less than what’s commended daily, a very safe amount of chromium. That means even if you eat four meals a day that are all cooked in stainless steel pots and pans you would still be in the safe range, since 4 times 45 mg equals 180 mg (less than the daily 200 mg that are completely fine).
About nickel – nickel actually isn’t something that you want to put in your body. Fortunately when you cook with stainless steel cookware there is very little nickel leaking into the feed – so little that scientists and medical masters consider it utterly safe. The only persons to whom the nickel might pose a threat are humans who have nickel allergies. If you have a nickel allergy I suppose you already talked to your doctor in regards to that. Since stainless steel cookware is employed in so a great deal of public places (restaurants etc.) I suppose that it still is normally not that big of a threat, but again, check with your doctor.
To a good deal of this might all sound a little weird and they might be amazed that when they cook share of the cookware likewise gets into the food. But this is in truth normal, it’s the world we live in. You drink from a may and a good deal of tiny amounts of the may material will get into your drink. You drink from a bottle and numerous tiny amounts of the plastic get into your drink. When you cook there is heat involved which enforces reactions amidst dissimilar materials. This is not one thing bad – do not forget that we humane beings are designed to live in this world and to handle these kinds of things.
When you buy high quality cookware you may be pretty sure that it is safe to use – cause all these huge brandname manufacturers have a reputation and they don’t want to peril lawsuits. Of course if you buy cheap noname cookware that’s a dissimilar case – which is one of the reasons why I always choose high quality cookware.

Nothing is Perfect By Charlie Jinn My wife and I have spent a lot of money in our life time buying pots and pans. Some even claims “life Time Warranty” and cost triple the price, but nothing last a life time, not even close. When it was time to purchase another set, I did a lot of research (for days). Consumers Report, Amazon.com, etc. Earth Pan received very good reviews over all and it was safe (no PTFEs or PFOAs)- we have young children.
The first few days, everything was fine. We read the instructions twice to make sure we followed everything to the letter.
Cons: 1. Non-stick: It still sticks, and depends on what you are cooking, cleaning up afterwards could still be time consuming. 2. Stainless steel handles gets very hot, so be careful, or get the plastic/rubber handle set. 3. Somehow when you get stains on the outside of the pots or pans, NO WAY of cleaning it off. I have research the internet and tried everything, and the stains are still there. 4. Like many other complaints about this set, yes, the pots are too small for everyday use. I agreed.
Pro: 1. Earth pan is well made and attractive. 2. Price is right.
If oneday the non-stick coating comes off (and they will, like all the other non sticks cookwares we ever own), I don’t have to worry about harmful chemicals getting into our bodies (espically our kid’s).
Update: 11/30/09
These pans are just as bad as the others. It sticks really bad after 3 months. I am so disappointed! Days of research and the “Consumers Report Rating” has not provided me with any satisfactions. Don’t buy this. Really.

I thought at first this was an amazing set of pans By MSB I had a set of stainless steel pans and before that what I consider to be toxic T-Fal type coated pans. So after getting frustrated cooking with holiday company here (hate cooking eggs in stainless steel). I went on amazon to find a new set of eco friendly non toxic pans. These pans arrived the next day. Amazing! They were more than I hoped for. You are not to use cooking spray on nonstick finish (which I had no idea about before), and they are dishwasher safe. The largest pot is wonderful for cooking pasta for my large family of 6. Making eggs is dream in the skillet or fry pan. I could not be more thrilled with this purchase. I had seen them listed here for $114 after I bought them, wish Amazon would refund the difference for you if it’s within 30 days. But regardless this set was well worth the money. They are a good solid set and one you can feel safe using for your family, knowing that no toxic chemicals are leaching into your food as you prepare it.
updated review as of 4/1/10: The fry pans in the set are now useless after 4 months. I called the Earth pan company (Meyer) today and explained them that despite my following their directions for pan use (only olive or peanut oil for taste no non stick cooking spray) and though they say not dishwasher safe when you talk to them, Amazon says “dishwasher safe” and the insert directions in the pans themselves do say dishwasher safe as well the earth pan website. The rep was very nice and I was given a choice to return the pans that are ruined (3) and choose something else as a replacement. But the cost to return is on me though they will ship the new pans to me on them. I was also told this is not a warranty issue and that this is not an issue covered on this set of pans as they do not offer a lifetime warranty as on other sets in their pan lines). I would caution other buyers to be mindful when purchasing as eventually these pans will stick. I followed all directions and yes did put them in the dishwasher as that was indicated to be okay. I’m wondering if folks who have not had issues have just opted to handwash instead. Now I’m thinking of just getting two Faberware Stainless fry pans. The rest of this set has not given me any issue so far. I have put the saucepans in the dishwasher with no ill effects, so not sure why the fry pans have been so effected. Meyer told me it might have been a bad batch.

Finish came off, residue on pans By J. Pryor Purchased two skillets in December and was impressed with their non-stick glidy finish. We stir-fry veggies, meat dishes, fish, fry eggs and bacon….but 4 months later we have the finish coming off in small areas all over the bottom and sides! and residue building up that appears baked into the finish. Beware that if you use much high heat with them that this may cause the problem, but regardless, they did not last any time at all. We have had to replace them with new products. The warranty was good for 30 days – and like most warranties they outlived their return policy. I would not buy any more – because if you can’t heat them to stir fry or fry eggs without these problems, they aren’t worth having!
