Life as a little baby may be hard: so galore sights, sounds and sensations to adjust to. Thrush may make life for a little baby – and mom – even harder. If thrush is the most severe health issue you have to contend with, then in a great deal of ways you’re very lucky. However, that doesn’t make thrush easy to deal with. Without the right approach, treating babies with thrush may be difficult and frustrating. Feedings, diaper changes, night-wakings, and the innumerable other responsibilities of caring for a newborn may make oral thrush seem downright overwhelming. Let’s look at a good deal of of the most mutual sensations or changes of oral thrush: -Creamy, white patches on the tongue, gums or inside the cheeks The yeast cell candida albicans (which causes thrush) loves the warm, wet, sugar-rich environs of babies’ mouths. Breast milk is rich in the natural sugar lactose, while formulas integrate added sweeteners; whether a baby is breastfed or bottle-fed, yeast cells will have plenteous feed to grow and multiply. The prevalent use of antibiotics, both for c-sections and strep B bacteria, has made infant thrush more mutual than ever. Antibiotics wipe out both mom and baby’s natural yeast defenses, making yeast overgrowth more likely. If mom has vaginal yeast, this may cause baby to catch the yeast coming through the birth canal. Prematurity or use of steroids may also make thrush more likely. There are two mutual approaches to treating babies with thrush: In any case, both the pharmaceutical and “natural” approach are imperfect solutions because they don’t stop the yeast from growing back. Pharmaceuticals such as Diflucan and other antifungals carry the further and added danger of severe side effects, which is in particular troubling for a newborn. (Nystatin is the safest of the pharmaceutical drugs but is not very effective and may most times cause the yeast to mutate into a more difficult to treat form.) Some thrush home remedies carry significant risks as well, which is worrisome since well-meaning mothers may merely not be conscious of potential side effects. I’ve seen merchandise containing colloidal silver, tea tree oil and oregano oil all advertised for infant thrush problems: each of these has significant worries as far as treating babies. My own personal experiences with the difficultness of treating thrush naturally and permanently led me to develop a comprehensive approach to treat infant thrush quickly and safely, with only positive side effects: zero destructive ones. The key lies both in killing the existent yeast (safely) and curing the underlying imbalance that permitted the yeast cells to grow out of control in the introductory place.

We didn’t know that MAM made bottles as well (they’re not readily available in the area we live in) so we tried giving her other bottles when she was an infant. Unfortunately, she just squawked and bawled at them and we gave up on bottles for a while. Needless to say, having to feed directly from the breast is not always convenient nor practical and doesn’t really allow my husband and I to have a night out by ourselves – or let me have much freedom at all, for the matter. Around the time she turned four moths, I found a MAM bottle at a baby store an hour away from us and – hurray! – she took to it right away. Unfortunately, I left the bottle at her grandparents’ house in another state and haven’t had time to buy another one. Now that she’s started solids and the weaning process has begun, I’ve decided to introduce formula to her in another attempt to give mom and dad some freedom. So I bought her one of these. Again, she has taken to the bottle like a dream and loves being able to hold on to the handle and control the bottle, making feeding so much easier and more pleasant. I am so thankful for MAM. FYI, we received a blue bottle and she could not care less. By the time she does, she won’t be using it anymore anyway. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I do like the MAM bottles a lot more than most bottles; however, it is best to try and get the bottles that allow you to choose the color. If you can’t find them. I would definitely recommend the Avent bottles. They may not be as colorful and fun, but their function is great! It also seems like a lot of babies enjoy them. |
