I am returning the strand for a refund, since it was shipped from Amazon, but I was unable to get a replacement since this product is no longer available shipped from Amazon. Update: A year later, these are still the nicest lights I could find on Amazon (aside from the really expensive GE Color Effects lights), so I decided to try again. I ordered two sets from different sellers (both fulfilled by Amazon), and they do actually work this time. However, though the two sets have the same name, they came in different boxes, look somewhat different, and have completely different model numbers… which I find a little odd. One is very bright and produces an almost white color over all. The second is a little dimmer, especially the green, so it looks more purple overall. I wouldn’t say it’s worse, just different. Since the different colors are controlled by each individual light, the dim green means the actual bulbs must have been manufactured differently between the two sets. Most likely one is from last year and the second is from a more recent production run. (If I remember correctly, the portion of my first set that actually worked looked identical to the dimmer set, and it came in a similar box.) Just be aware if you’re ordering multiple sets that they may be slightly different. I’ll leave the star rating as it is, since the mismatched sets do limit the placement possibilities of the lights. Aside from that, I think the blinking / fading effect is quite nice. 33 of 34 people found the following review helpful. I decided to take a video of the lights in action – one full cycle. They’ll keep getting and more out of sych the longer they’re on, so you won’t end up with a tree cycling through the same colors (that was a worry) Each bulb does, in fact, cycle through all the colors. The wires are green. 35 of 38 people found the following review helpful. I didn’t even bother unwrapping the bundle. I wanted to see what the colors looked like. I found the end of the light string and plugged it into the same outlet that I have other LED lights plugged into. They glowed and were beautiful. I actually squeaked a little in excitement, imagining how good they were going to look. Suddenly, the speed of the light changed and I saw fire shoot out of the cord. There was a connector toward the bottom of the power cord that looks like it did some sort of conversion from the wall outlet. It literally blew off when the flames shot out! Luckily, the fire didn’t continue or smolder or anything. But it was very disconcerting and scary. As beautiful as the lights were for the 30 seconds or so that I saw them, I can’t recommend a product that catches fire and is supposed to be on a tree. |
