5The best gift you can give expecting parents
By Deanna Roy
I received this book with my first pregnancy and have since given it to every single pregnant friend I know (I buy several at a time and save on shipping.) It is funny, perfectly Dr. Seuss, and fun to read to your thumping belly. Best of all, it is small, colorful, and embodies all the joy and anticipation you feel as you wait on your baby. And because it is Seuss, your older children can read it to their sibling-to-be.

5The Perfect Baby Shower Gift
By Channing Williams
Of all the gifts my wife and I received for our first baby, this was undoubtedly the best. Not only did it give me, a first time father, the chance to bond with our son, it gave both of us a great deal to think about as well. Today, a year later, I can’t even think about this book without a tear coming to my eyes. I highly recommend it for any parents-to-be, and it truly makes a gift that will last a lifetime.

5A Must-Have Primer to Dr. Seuss’ Fanciful World
By Renee Johnson
My mother gave me this book when I was pregnant with my first child. My husband and I read it frequently to our son (now 3) in utero. I have since purchased it for every expectant parent I know. If you love Dr. Suess, and are expecting, you must have this book.

The book is a short compilation of Dr. Suess favorites. It introduces the newcomer to all the imaginative characters of Dr. Seuss’ creative mind. It’s also great practice for parents-to-be to get back into the swing of reading aloud. The beauty of the book is in its rhythm and rhyming, which captivate the developing mind of a child. Our son who was read this book in utero is now a book fanatic and constantly makes up rhyming words. I believe this is a direct result of his exposure to this and other Seuss books.
